"If the longing arises, if the longing genuinely arises in you, really when your heart cries wanting to know, when you know the pain of ignorance, when you really know the pain of ignorance, then a master arises." "If you want to know this dimension, you need devotion in your heart."

about

This EP was in many ways a product of circumstance. What started out as a 45-minute, time-crunch recording session at The New School for a composition competition became a labor of love and a conduit of much artistic growth. Well, I did not win any composition award, but I did plant a seed which then became this EP--music I am truly proud of. It is raw, imperfect, and primordial. It is everything that I call "me".
I am extremely grateful for my peers who learned these compositions for genuinely nothing in return, just for the love of the music and the respect for my own voice. I am also thankful for my good friend, Chris Fishman, who showed me the potential and the beauty of post-production, which has completely transformed this music, and will continue to inspire my artistic process as I evolve. I would also like to recognize the late genius of Muhal Richard Abrams, and the very much living David Binney for their compositional contributions which I arranged in the form of "Charlie in the Parker / All of Time". Lastly, I want to acknowledge Sadhguru, whose words grace the first track of this EP, and whose energies and presence continue to grace my life every single day. The contents of that track ("even trees weep") are a keyhole into the being that I am and the energy behind my fundamental drive to create. I hope even a little bit of this can rub off on you. The album's artwork (done by Xach Wagner) is of the mudra (hand-position) which is used in the Guru Pooja process, whereby one makes an offering to that dimension of life which dispels his darkness. This EP is my offering, with the hope that it can be a step towards the destruction of darkness in your life. Shambho
